Charles Cushing Painting to Enter Union League Collection!
My 4' x 7' canvas, "The Lincoln Funeral Cortege" is being purchased by the Abraham Lincoln foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia. The painting, which was the centerpiece of my exhibit and lecture at the Union League in 2002, depicts Lincoln's funeral procession through Philadelphia as it passed the Union League on April 14, 1865. It was based on actual photographs from the Union League's reknowned collection of Civil War era materials. It is a great honor to enter this collection, where my painting will be catalogued with the likes of Thomas Sully, John Neagle, and other great artists.

Mutter Museum Award
The Philadelphia College of Physicians (popularly known as the Mutter Museum) is honoring me with their Samuel G. Gross / Thomas Eakins Award for Outstanding Contribution. This is the result of my efforts in the fundraising drive to purchase the Gross Clinic painting, including executing a full-sized copy of that painting. Needless to say, it is a thrill to be honored by this prestigous and unusual institution.
