Gross Clinic Copy On Display At 2 Penn CenterMy full size copy of The Gross Clinic by Thomas Eakins has found a permanent home, as it was purchased by the owner of Two Penn Center at 15th & JFK Boulevard, where I maintain a revolving display of artwork. I was recently honored with the Samuel Gross/Thomas Eakins Award for Contribution to The Arts & Sciences by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia (which houses the Mutter Museum) for my efforts in behalf of the campaign to keep The Gross Clinic in Philadelphia. Also awarded were fellow PAFA alumni, Patrick Connors and Stanley Beilen. The original painting by Eakins is now on exhibit at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, which ironically is only three blocks away. Also exhibiting at Two Penn Center are portraits by local artist Sylvia Castellanos. Upcoming ExhibitionI will be having a solo show at Montgomery County Community College in Pottstown, PA. The opening is Friday, November 9th, 6pm to 8pm. The show runs until Sunday, January 6. The exhibit will feature landscapes, including recent ones executed this summer in Maine and Nova Scotia. More info can be found on the MCCC website.Rittenhouse Square ReviewI have recently been writing monthly articles on local cultural events and institutions for the Rittenhouse Square Review. This is a free publication with listings of restaurants and cultural venues and events available at many downtown cafes, hotels, and condominiums in the Rittenhouse Square Area.
